			<description><![CDATA[I was saddened to learn of Alastair's death.  It was a pleasure to have known and worked with him in Heublein's R&D department.  Over all the years together I cannot recall ever having a disagreement or cross word with him.  We travelled together on three business trips.  Two to distilleries in Canada and to a cranberry processing plant in Wisconsin.  In Hartford we had many a pleasant lunch together.

My sincerest condolences to all.

	I worked at Heublein for nine years, and Alastair was one of the most memorable people I had the privilege to work with.&nbsp; His sense of humor was always evident, and he could brighten up any day.&nbsp; One of my most vivid memories of Alastair is his knack for rhyming for any occasion. An excerpt sampling on the occasion of Don Piehl&#39;s retirement:&nbsp; &quot;... It&#39;s time to close, with seriousness, And show him we revere, And say &#39;farewell&#39; to Don and Ann, and &#39;thanks for being here.&#39;&nbsp; &#39;Twas brillig and the slithy toves, Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogroves, And the mome raths outgrabe.&#39;&nbsp; He also wrote a &quot;Puzzle Corner&quot; for our Spirited Grapevine&quot; newsletter.&nbsp; Fare thee well, dear Alastair. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
