I am a 1975 alum of Towpath school, and an Avon Little League brat, growing up on the fields as my parents were involved with the Little League for over 20 years. I have vivid memories of George being down at the fields almost every night, quietly and diligently supporting the players and the snack bar! He was a man of few words, but always had a gentle smile, and an overall sense of kindness. I consider myself an "old Avon" boy, and guys like George, Lyle Brewer, and some of the other Eddy street gang were a regular part of our world back then...when the train used to run the tracks, and the Avon Park theater was still around!
George was, and always will be a part of Old Avon, and I was sad to hear of his passing. I hope he is in peace up above, still watching over the games and enjoying a hot dog!
